Year in Review Printable 2026
A year in review printable is a one-page sheet you fill in at the end of the year: one thing from each month, the best moments, what you are proud of and what you are leaving behind. Pick a sheet below — month by month, sixteen end of year reflection questions, couples or kids — type your answers or print it blank, on A4 or US Letter.
Your 2026, month by month
Pick a month and write one thing that happened in it — a trip, a change, a meal you still think about. The ring fills as you go, and every month you write lands on the printed sheet.

End of year reflection questions
Sixteen questions in four groups: what happened, who it happened with, what you learned and what comes next. Answer the ones that catch you and skip the rest. Whatever you write here prints on the reflection questions sheet, and five of the answers go on the month-by-month sheet too.

What you want more of and what you want to start are the first lines of next year’s plan. The resolution tracker turns each one into an action with a week and a place, and prints a plan sheet to keep with this one.

Four sheets, each one page. Anything you typed above is written in; leave it empty and the sheet prints blank for writing by hand.
A4 · one page · Month by month

How the sheets and the year are worked out
Nothing is scored. The page lays out four sheets — month by month, the sixteen reflection questions, couples and kids — and prints the one you pick. Each is drawn at the true size of the paper, converting millimetres at the CSS definition of 96 pixels to the inch, so an A4 sheet is laid out at A4 and US Letter at Letter, and each fits on one page. What is on screen is the printed sheet rather than a preview of it.
The year on the sheets is computed, never typed. In December it is that year; for the first fifteen days of January it is still the year just finished, because that is when many people sit down to write it; after that it is the year in progress, so next December's sheets are already in place. The year after it, printed on the sheets where they look ahead, is that number plus one. There is no year literal anywhere on the page to go stale.
The ring counts the months you have written something for, out of twelve. Nothing else is counted, and no month counts for more than another. The sixteen questions, their four groups, the ten couples questions and the kids boxes are ours: they are writing prompts, not a validated questionnaire, and there is nothing to pass or fail. Answers that run longer than the lines on a sheet are cut at the last line; print the sheet blank if you want to write at length by hand.
Two research claims are made on this page and both are cited below: that people are more likely to start on goals just after dates that feel like a fresh start (Dai, Milkman and Riis, 2014), and that a 2022 review of 20 randomised trials found journaling gave a small to moderate benefit on health measures, with too much variation between studies to name a firm effect. What you type is saved in this browser's local storage under one key, and the clear button empties it.
Where these numbers come from
- 1. The Fresh Start Effect: Temporal Landmarks Motivate Aspirational Behavior — Dai H, Milkman KL, Riis J, Management Science 60(10):2563–2582, 2014 (authors' copy, Wharton)
- 2. Efficacy of journaling in the management of mental illness: a systematic review and meta-analysis — Sohal M, Singh P, Dhillon BS, Gill HS, Family Medicine and Community Health 10(1):e001154, 2022 (PMC)
Nothing on this site is medically reviewed. Every figure above was read out of the code that runs on this page, and where a number is our own judgement rather than a published one, the note says so and cites nothing. Method last checked 12 October 2026.
How to do an end of year reflection you will want to read again
An end of year reflection is worth doing when it is specific. "It was a busy year" is true of every year and tells you nothing in twelve months. "March: the week the boiler broke and we ate at my sister's every night" is something you will be glad you wrote down. That is why the first sheet here asks for one thing from each month before it asks for anything bigger: the months jog the memory, and the big questions are easier to answer once the year is laid out in front of you.
Start with what happened, then move to what it meant. The best moments and the hardest part come first because they are the easiest to reach. Who made the year better comes next, and it is the question people most often skip and most often value later — if the answer is someone who does not know it, that is a message worth sending in December. What you learned and which habit helped are slower questions. Leave them a day if they need it.
Finish by looking forward, but only a little. What you are leaving behind and what you want more of are the bridge into next year, and that is where this page hands over to the resolution tracker, which turns a wish into an action with a week and a place. The date helps: in a 2014 study by Dai, Milkman and Riis, people were more likely to start on goals just after dates that feel like a new beginning, which is the fresh start effect. A review is a cheap way to make sure that start is pointed at something you chose.
Be honest with yourself about what a sheet of paper can do. A 2022 review of journaling trials found a small benefit with a lot of variation between studies. It is a good hour, not a treatment. If you would rather do it in smaller pieces through the year, the year in pixels keeps one square a day, the printable gratitude journal keeps a page a week, and the end-of-day review is the five-minute version you can do every evening.
