2027 Bingo Card Maker

A 2027 bingo card is your goals for the year on one bingo grid: 24 squares and a free space in the middle. Type a goal into each square or pick from 64 ideas, print the card or save it as a phone image, then tick squares off as the year goes. A full row, column or diagonal is a bingo.

Free, no signup. Your card is saved in this browser. Want a weekly check-in on the big goals? The resolution tracker keeps one.

How the card counts bingos

A line is a full row, a full column or one of the two corner-to-corner diagonals. A card with n squares a side therefore has n rows, n columns and 2 diagonals: 12 lines on a 5 × 5 card, 10 on a 4 × 4 and 8 on a 3 × 3. A line is a bingo when every square on it is ticked, and the free space counts as ticked from the start, so on a 5 × 5 card the middle row, the middle column and both diagonals each need four goals rather than five. A blackout is every square ticked. Nothing else is scored: the count under the card is ticked squares over goal squares, plain division.

Only odd-sized cards have a centre square, so the free space exists on 3 × 3 and 5 × 5 and not on 4 × 4. Turn it off and the centre is a goal like any other. The 64 ideas and their eight groups are ours, written as finishable goals; the button that fills blanks takes ideas from the groups you pick, in a shuffled order, and writes them only into empty squares, never over a goal you typed.

The year on the card is computed, never typed: from October to December it is the year ahead, from January to September the year in progress, so a card made in November is still the right card in June. The share link carries the card in the address itself, after the # sign: the title, the size, the free space, the goals and the ticks. The printed sheet is laid out at the true size of the paper, converting millimetres at the CSS definition of 96 pixels to the inch, and is one page. The images are drawn in the page at 1080 by 1920 pixels for a phone story and 1080 by 1080 for a square post. Your card is kept in this browser's local storage under one key per year.

Two findings stand behind the advice on this page, and both are quoted as their papers state them: approach goals beat avoidance goals in a randomised trial of New Year's resolutions (58.9 against 47.1 per cent self-rated success at one year, n = 1,066), and interventions that increase progress monitoring improve goal attainment, with larger effects when progress is reported publicly or physically recorded (138 studies, n = 19,951). The bingo format itself has no trial behind it, and this page does not claim one.

How to fill a goal bingo card that lasts the year

A goal bingo card is a year of goals on one page: a five-by-five grid, 24 goals and a free space, crossed off one square at a time. It took off as a lighter way to write resolutions, and the shape is the point. A list of 24 resolutions reads like a test you can fail. A card reads like a game where any one square is progress and a line is a small win.

Fill it with goals you can check. "Get fit" cannot be crossed off; "run a 5K" can. Give each square a finish line you would recognise, and frame it as something to start rather than something to stop: in Oscarsson and colleagues' trial of 1,066 New Year's resolutions, approach goals succeeded 58.9 per cent of the time at one year and avoidance goals 47.1 per cent. "Cook dinner at home twice a week" beats "stop ordering takeaway" for the same reason.

Mix the sizes. Put two or three big goals on the card and make the rest small enough to finish in a weekend: a museum you have never visited, one long walk, a letter to an old friend. Small squares are what keep the card alive in March, and a card you stop looking at by spring is just a nice picture. Spread the big goals across different rows so one hard square never blocks every line.

Look at it often. A 2016 review of 138 experiments found that monitoring progress makes a goal more likely to be reached, and more so when the progress is physically recorded or shared with others. That is what ticking a square on a printed card on the fridge does, and what posting the card does for the people who follow along. If a goal needs weekly attention, give it a line on the resolution tracker; if you are not sure where your year needs the most work, score the wheel of life first and put your squares where the low spokes are.

Many squares are really habits in disguise: "read 12 books" is twenty pages a night, "run a 5K" is three short runs a week. For those, a printable habit tracker keeps the daily part, and the fresh start effect explains why January makes starting easier and why the first of any month can do the same. The card is the scoreboard; the days are where the squares get won.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 2027 bingo card?

A 2027 bingo card is a list of goals for the year laid out as a bingo grid: usually five squares by five, with 24 goals and a free space in the middle. Nobody calls numbers. You cross a square off when you finish that goal, and a full row, column or diagonal is a bingo. It turns a long list of resolutions into one page you can pin up and tick off.

How do I make a bingo card for 2027?

Pick a size, then tap a square and type a goal, or open the ideas and tap one to drop it into the square. Keep the middle as a free space or turn it off. When the card is full, print it, save it as a phone image, or copy a link that opens the same card. Come back during the year and switch to ticking to cross squares off.

What should I put on my 2027 bingo card?

Goals you can finish and check off: "run a 5K", "read 12 books", "visit a city I have never been to", "learn three songs on the guitar". Mix a few big ones with plenty of small ones, so squares get crossed off in February and not only in December. The ideas list on this page has 64 to start from, in eight groups.

How many squares are on a bingo card?

A classic card is 5 × 5: 25 squares with the centre as a free space, so 24 goals. This maker also does 4 × 4, which has no centre square and so 16 goals and no free space, and 3 × 3, which is eight goals around a free centre. A 5 × 5 card has 12 lines that can make a bingo (five rows, five columns, two diagonals), a 4 × 4 has 10 and a 3 × 3 has 8.

What goes in the free space?

In party bingo it is a square you get for nothing. On a goal card it starts ticked, so every line through the middle needs one square fewer. Some people write the year's one-word theme in it, or something they already do and mean to keep doing. Turn the free space off and the centre becomes a goal like the others.

How do you win at goal bingo?

There is nobody to beat. A completed row, column or diagonal is a bingo, and the card counts them as you tick. Some people aim for one line by summer and a blackout, every square, by New Year's Eve. Treat the card as a menu rather than a contract: a square you swap out in May is a goal you replaced, not one you failed.

Can I print a blank 2027 bingo card template?

Yes. The print section makes a one-page sheet on A4 or US Letter, either with your goals written in or blank so you can write them by hand. Press print and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog if you want a file rather than paper.

Can I post my bingo card?

Yes. Save it as a 1080 × 1920 image for a phone story or a 1080 × 1080 square for a feed post. Or copy the share link: the goals ride inside the link itself, so whoever opens it sees your card and can keep a copy to make their own.

Where are my goals and ticks saved?

In this browser, on this device. There is no account, so the card does not follow you to another phone, and clearing your browser data clears it. To move it, copy the share link and open it on the other device: the link carries your goals and your ticks.

Do goal lists like this actually work?

A card does not do the work for you, but two findings point the same way. In a trial of 1,066 people's New Year's resolutions, goals framed as something to start succeeded more often than goals framed as something to stop: 58.9 per cent against 47.1 per cent at one year. And a 2016 review of 138 experiments found that monitoring progress made people more likely to reach their goals, more so when the progress was written down or shared. Ticking a square is both.
