Founder of Aura

Zigmārs Dzērve

I'm Ziggy. I built Aura — a habit tracker where you check habits off in one tap, keep a streak and a grid for each one, and see your year on one wheel — and I write everything published on this site: 49 articles across 5 topics, plus 21 free tools.

I'm a developer and a founder, not a psychologist, doctor, therapist or researcher. I read the habit literature because I had to build an app that models streaks and habit formation honestly. Where an article or a tool here touches health — sleep, caffeine, nicotine, mental health, quitting drinking — it is educational, it points at a public source, and it is not medical advice.

Behavioural claims here point at the study or the public-health body they come from, and every tool page carries a note that describes what its own code does — no more precision than the code has. Comparison articles are read off each app's own store page and pricing page on the date the article names. Nothing here is medically reviewed, because there is no clinician on staff to review it. I'd rather say that plainly than imply a credential I don't have.

How I work

  • Sources on the page. Claims about habits, streaks and behaviour cite the research or the public-health body they come from, with outbound links, so you can read the original.
  • Tools say what they compute. Every free tool has a "how this is calculated" note that describes its own arithmetic, and says so where a figure is my judgement rather than a published one.
  • No diagnosis, no treatment plans. These are educational guides. Anything about medication, withdrawal or a diagnosis belongs with a clinician.
  • Corrections welcome. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell me and I'll fix it and note the update date.

What Aura is

Aura is a habit tracker for iPhone and Android. You check habits off in one tap; each habit carries its own streak and a grid of the days you kept it, and the stats tab shows your whole year on one wheel. There are counts, timers and limits for when a tick is not enough, and friends if you want them.
